Therapy for Children & Young People
A Sanctuary for Growing Minds and Evolving Needs
At Wellcare, we know that as a parent, you aren’t just looking for a service. You are looking for a team that sees your child’s unique potential. Whether your child is experiencing anxiety, struggling to engage at school, facing sensory challenges, or navigating a new diagnosis, our Beverley clinic provides a safe, nurturing harbour. We work collaboratively to support your whole family, helping your child explore their world with confidence.
Clinical Psychology vs. General Therapy: Understanding the Difference
Choosing the right psychological support is an investment in your wellbeing, and it’s important to understand exactly what level of care you are receiving.
Our therapeutic sessions are delivered exclusively by fully qualified, Doctoral-level Clinical Psychologists. Unlike general counselling or short-course talking therapies, a Clinical Psychologist undergoes a minimum of 7 to 9 years of rigorous, continuous academic and university-hospital training.
We don't just offer standard talking therapy, we integrate complex, evidence-based psychological frameworks specifically tailored to how your brain is wired.
Holistic Support for Your Child’s Journey
We completely reject the traditional deficit model. We don’t look for what is "broken" in a child; instead, we investigate how their specific environment, communication style, and strengths interact. We focus on turning misunderstood behaviours into clear communication so that schools, families, and communities can provide the right support.
Our Core Areas of Support:
Emotional Regulation & Trauma We provide practical, gentle tools to help manage anxiety, process big emotions, understand experiences, and navigate overwhelming school or social environments.
Speech, Language & Communication Pathways Supporting children to express themselves authentically. Our multidisciplinary approach respects all communication styles, focusing on building genuine connection and confidence rather than forcing conformity.
Sensory Processing & Motor Skills Through our Occupational Therapy expertise, we help identify sensory triggers and environmental barriers that cause physical or emotional distress, creating tailored strategies for home and the classroom.
Specialist Neuro-Affirming Advocacy For children who are autistic, have ADHD, or are exploring a neurodivergent identity. We provide a warm, validating, and safe space to help young people and their families understand how their brain is wired, build a positive neurodivergent identity, and confidently navigate the everyday challenges of living in a neurotypical world.
Why Choose Us?
Doctoral-Level Expertise: Every clinician on our team holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), representing the highest tier of psychological training available in the UK.
Regulated & Protected Professionals: We are strictly regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This guarantees adherence to stringent medical legal standards, continuous professional development, and robust clinical safety audits.
Going Beyond a Diagnosis: Whilst our clinicians are experts in identifying neurodivergence, we look beyond diagnostic labels to understand the whole person. Our therapeutic sessions are fully informed by the latest therapeutic frameworks. Our approach is grounded in curiosity, respect, and acceptance, helping us tailor support to your unique strengths, needs, values, and lived experiences.
Evidence-Based Multi-Disciplines: We draw from advanced, specialised psychological disciplines (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and neuro-affirming relational therapy) to build a bespoke framework for your unique mind.
